Postpartum core and pelvic floor bodywork are essential to your life long physical, emotional, and mental health.

Meet and Greet Your Postpartum Body
Postpartum Timeline

Step 1: Postpartum Integration (birth- 6 months): This can be done immediately after any type of birth. In this first session you remain fully clothed and we work with your fascia, bones, and organs to:

  • Calm the nervous system and balance the psoas muscles

  • Realign your pelvic bones, sacrum, and tailbone back to a pre-birthing position

  • Unwind the liver, stomach, and kidneys

  • Ease sore epidural sites

  • Support connective tissue as it continues to heal

Whether you just gave birth or it was 40 years ago, once these specifics are addressed your entire body will feel much more supported. This session is mandatory before step 2 or step 3- everything must be in alignment before it can work together to continue healing.

If seeking this work beyond 6 months, sign up for “Initial Holistic Abdominal Series” instead.

Step 2: Abdominal/Womb Therapy
: You’re welcome to do this after your first postpartum session. If you had a vaginal birth wait until you are 6 weeks postpartum or done bleeding, whichever comes first. If you had a cesarean birth, we wait until you are 12 weeks postpartum so both your external and internal stitches have healed.

This lovely abdominal massage and back massage:

  • bring your uterus and bladder back into alignment

  • relieves upper abdominal tension that carries emotional stress

  • skillfully works with scar tissue to prevent adhesions

  • eases muscular hip and booty tension

  • soothes sore shoulders and muscles along your spine

  • realigns sacrum and tailbone

  • helps get you out of your head, back in your body, and process birth

Step 3: Holistic Pelvic Care: This pelvic floor modality was developed by Women’s Physical Therapist Tami Lynn Kent, and is absolutely essential after pregnancy and birth. You remain mostly clothed and modestly draped during the entire session. I like to wait until 12 weeks postpartum regardless of birth type, though if you need to come in earlier, please reach out. This intra-vaginal work has lifelong benefits, including:

  • re-pattern pelvic floor muscles

  • release vaginal tension

  • support scar tissue healing from an episiotomy or natural tear

  • lessen energetic charge around birth trauma

  • relieve painful intercourse

  • reduce vaginal gas

  • help reduce or prevent prolapse symptoms

  • ease hemorrhoids
